Creative, Honest, Solution-Oriented, & Efficient
Hello. My name is Dave Kostiuk, and I am a versatile, dependable, creative, and seasoned freelance writer and editor.
I am a UC Berkeley graduate with a BA in English. I taught English as a Second Language for several years and I am certified via Transworld Schools.
Both long-term and short-term projects are welcome and quality work is guaranteed. Hourly rates and flat fees are negotiable according to project. Of course I can work and communicate virtually, but I’m not as shy and introverted as other writer/editors, so I also love to meet clients in person.
I love to edit, and can edit work of any length or scope, including novels and nonfiction. In fact, I have several published works under my belt with excellent references. I can offer simple critiques or help you in greater detail with the process. I can tackle global issues such as plot, logic, consistency, and character development, as well as minor issues such as grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
I also love to write very much. I am well versed in fiction, nonfiction, and screenwriting. In addition, I write articles and essays based on research and/or interviews. Of course, I am familiar with APA, MLA, and Chicago formats. I also frequently help others with personal statements for college applications, cover letters, resumes, web copy, and bios.
Indeed, the work I’ve done over the years in the areas of editing and writing has been various and far-reaching. I’ve edited novels, ghostwritten and critiqued screenplays, edited articles for a surgeon, worked on dozens of projects with a practicing nurse, ghostwritten an autobiography for a Silicon Valley tycoon who suffers from bipolar disorder, written news stories for local publications, created press releases, and reviewed writing seminars. I also love writing short stories and I am currently working on a novel, to be completed in 2021.
As a teacher and tutor, I have had the pleasure of working with kids and adults from all over the world, including but not limited to Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Turkey, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Thailand, Vietnam, Senegal, and of course the U.S. I have created thousands of my own lessons over the years, teaching academic writing, creative writing, public speaking, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, research skills, and pronunciation.
These years of experience allow me to design, compose, and deliver customized seminars for companies, organizations, and schools. For example, I have taught a series of 3-day seminars in Klamath, CA to Native American TERO employees on the tribal land of the Yurok.
I certainly hope you find me of interest and we can work together soon. Feel free to contact me anytime and I will get back to you ASAP.
